These are the top most Frequently Asked Questions I received and tried to answer this week. I thought it might be a good idea to put these out there in hopes that this will help others who might have the same issues, or questions. Sometimes just helping one person creates an opportunity to help many.
I'm just getting started on ActiveRain. I attended a class a few weeks ago. I finally got up the courage to write my first blog, it's not great, but you have to start somewhere. I know my confidence will grow with practice and my blogs will improve. Here's my question, when entering the blog, I only have 3 options for visibility- members only, draft, associates only. How do I make it available to the public?
Congrats on your first post, I remember getting up the courage to write my first post. The free basic membership on AR allows you to post in draft, associates, and members only modes. The "RainMaker" accounts on ActiveRain allow you to post publically.
Is there a cost involved with the Rainmaker accounts and what are some of the other benefits?
Yes, there is a cost. If you are a new member on AR after 2/16/2009, RainMaker membership is 29.00 per month but it also includes your outside ActiveBlog, your domain name, registration, Localism posting, SEO, technical support, webinar training (coming shortly) and more. Current founding members pay 19.00 for their outside ActiveBlogs.
I need to change my email address on my account to and I can't find the area where I can do this. On my profile, that part of the page is grayed out. Can you help me with this?
This is a feature that needs to be changed by our admin or staff, feel free to email any of the community builders or technical support at support@activerain.com and we will take care of it for you. Be sure to send a link to your profile and what you'd like the new email address to be.
Can I add google analytics to my AR or outside blog?
Not currently, we are working on adding a tool that will allow you to add this shortly. There are a few other widgets you can add to get stats from your AR internal blog, the outside blogs are still in development.
I have a curious question. Why are we not able to mark for comments to be sent to us on those post we respond to? My in box seems awful lonely.
The "Notify Me Of Comments" has been moved from the comments section of posts. It is now located at the base of each post. You no longer need to leave a comment to follow a thread or be notified by email.
How do I get my picture to show up when I leave a comment on another members post? I see photos on some of the comments, but not on others? Can you explain?
Member photos appear next to their comments when 1. They use one of the paid services like Listing Router, Sponsor a Community in Localism, or have an outside ActiveBlog or 2. When a member obtains 10,000 AR points.
How do I get one of those cool badges other members have under their photos?
There are two types of badges. The first are the earned badges. These are awarded based on points, (100k, 200k, 300k, etc) feature posts, and the new Ambassador Badge which we'll announce this next week. The second types of badges represent the services used like Listing Router, Localism sponsorship, and Outside ActiveBlogs. We will also be adding an opt-in / opt-out feature for members.
Just one question about my outside blog. I have my OB up and running, but I only want to add specific content to it, and ALL my AR posts from the last year are on it. The reason is: My OB is going to be about Neighborhoods and cheap eats and great places to buy food and things to do and photos of locals etc. How do I control what goes on it?
By default, all your posts (excluding members only) are automatically added when you create your outside blog. This is by design. All posts for Outside ActiveBlogs are created on your ActiveRain Blog. Before submitting your post to the public, put a check in the box that says "Individual Blog" and if you don't want the post to show up on your outside Blog, just uncheck the box.
How come other outside Blogs have Categories listed on the sidebar and mine are all blank?
This is a great question. Many members are creating posts on AR and not using the "Topic & Channels" located in the edit mode of any Blog post. ActiveBlogs use these topics to sort out the categories you see appearing on the outside Blogs sidebar. Be sure you are adding a topic to ALL your AR posts, whether you have an outside blog or not.
I want to start my outside Blog but I don't have a domain name yet. Do I have to go to GoDaddy and buy my domain name first or should I start my outside Blog first?
ActiveRain provides you with a domain name when you setup your Outside ActiveBlogs. It's included in the price of the upgrade. You create the outside Blog first on AR (or upgrade) then when the internal domain is setup, you can go into the toolbar and search for and claim available domain names. It only takes about 2 minutes, and you don't have to direct any DNS nameservers. Your new domain will come up instantly. Here's 5 tips to remember.
I'd like to keep a series of these FAQ's going for our members if there is enough interest. Most of you probably know these things already so if you do, please pay it forward and help out another member. These FAQ's will be located in the HELP/FAQ link at the bottom of every AR page.
Have a great week, thanks for taking the time to review these. ActiveRainGuide.com / ActiveRainTeam.com

Just trying to be the first comment on one of your posts!!! Now I'll go back and read:)
Thanks Brad Helped me get some of my questions answered ...
and were is my photo I am at 6292 points?!?!? , I know, I know I need 3,708 more :-) ahhhh a few more days away ---weeeeeeee
This will be a lot of help to those who have questions....and also you'll be able to answer questions you must get tons of the same question for :)
This is a great resource, I like your idea about the 10 FAQ, very helpful. Thanks, Brad!
this was helpful. THANKS!
Hi Brad,
Can an ActiveBlog be created without the listing router feature? If I don't have IDX, can I create an ActiveBlog without a search homes button?
Hey Brad,
You were on my to-do list for asking about traffic widgets for the outside blog. Thanks for reading my mind. ;-)
Thanks for the quick down and dirty answers that I've been wondering about this week. Haven't had time to do much reading and still trying to figure out the whole outside blog/ payment business. This helps.
Brad - Thanks for posting this. It has answered a lot of my questions - some I didn't even recognize yet that I needed answers too!
Great post. Worth referring back to.
So much to learn....
Karen - you were my first! (big smile)
Bob - looking forward to seeing your photo here in a few days, it is retro-active so it will show up here in these comments when you hit your goal. Very cool.
Sally - at the risk of getting less comments and even less email, well.... that's a risk I'm willing to take. :-)
I really do hope this helps many of the folks who may have these same questions.
Mary - thanks, I'm glad you're behind the whole FAQ thingy.
Wendy - that's all I need to know, thank you.
Carol - it is a widget like all the others offered on ActiveBlogs, it can be removed, sorted etc., but I suggest setting up an IDX asap, or what's the point in trying to Blog to get readers and leads. Listing Router and "Searching For Homes" is the bridge that gaps consumers and blogs to contacts and business.
Judy - haha, wish sometimes I could read peoples minds, but I am glad that my posting this is serving the purpose it was intended for. Thanks.
Linda - if this isn't enough to help you figure it out, at least you'll always know where to find me. :-)
Brad ---- thanks so much -- you answered some of my questions. I love the idea of your doing this on a regular basis.
I like the idea of doing this for new folks, AR can be overwhelming at first.
Brad, thank you very much for this post. I am going to try again (for the 10th time)....
If I still can't make it work, I'll call you - and thanks for the offer to talk to me on the phone. I'm sure you have nothing better to do. :)
I'm one of those people for whom AR can be overwhelming. Thanks for doing this and thanks for continuing to be the "go to" person for all of our AR problems.
Brad, I noticed that the bookmark feature is not present on all posts. I thought you might have moved it (like you did with the comments) but I see that it's back here on your post. Why does it appear on some and not on others? Is there some other way to bookmark that I'm missing?
Brad,
I do love these types of posts! But, unlike Missy's statement, I'm afraid that AR is still a bit overwhelming to me. :)
Brad - I am still an overwhelmed newbie and really appreciate this type of post. I always learn so much! If you ever need material for questions - let me know. I am still searching for answers on people's posts, so I don't become too much a bother. Thanks again!
Thanks Brad. I am starting a new networking/new technology group with another agent in my area. Active Rain is on my list of sites a Realtor(r) must have a presence on. I bookmarked this post and will be able to come back often to e-mail it to members and new members of our group. Hopefully our first meeting, Monday, March 2, will happen, although it looks like our first Nor'easter of the winter is headed this way. In the meantime, I am glad to have this resource available.
Catherine in NY
I had a question for you Brad...how many hours of sleep do you average per day? You seem to be on here all the time!
Brad, yes I would like for you to keep the list of questions coming. This helps for information but also to realize others get stuck in areas with AR too.
Brad - I really appreciate this post. I've learned a few things... Thank you! :)
Brad,
Thanks for this...you answered a few questions I have had as well.
Brad~ As usual, amazing content for keeping up with the ever growing and improving Active Rain Real Estate Network. The idea of doing a regular FAQ's is super- I'll be bookmarking this one as I have the others that I've stumbled upon.
I've been around for quite a while and I must say that I am proud to be a member and just amazed at the advances coming to fruition.
OK, one more thing... I'm going to test your memory a little. But to the question on hand for now... how can I get one more "badge" to balance out my row?
Thank You, Sir.
Brad ~ ditto to the comments on AR being "overwhelming" - which is not meant as a negative. ;)
I like your "Top 10's" post and hope you keep them coming!
Brad--I'm so glad that y'all have added the 10K points mark as a way to earn your picture showing up next to your comments--I appreciate that!
Have a great night,
Anne Rains
I have a burning question. How do I find my "subscribe to me number" so I too can have a blinkly, neon, bordering on obnoxious subscribe to me button?
I gotta have one too.
kk
P.S. I almost forgot to say Thanks!
Hi Brad, I hope all is well. Good stuff for folks just starting AR. Thanks for all you do.
I think your idea about the FAQs if great. I'm sure there would be questions answered that we had not even thought of asking yet. Thank you!
Brad - good stuff here. With all the changes, having these sorts of summary posts is a great idea for everyone. I always learn something new.
Jeff
Brad,
You are soooo helpful. AR was very smart to snap you up. Have a wonderful week.
Hi Brad!
These are great points! I had a new Rainer call me to try to understand what the Listing Router does, what the advantage of the Outside Blog is, why you would pay to sponsor a Localism. These would be great topics for future FAQ's.
Brad, thanks for posting those FAQs. I would definitely be interested in seeing an on-going FAQs page as things on AR change on an almost daily basis. It seems, oddly enough, that you wait until I am off for a few days to implement them. (Not that I am vain enough to think that you just do it to mess with me!) :)
I agree with Fran above! And ditto to KK's question. Good stuff, Brad!
Brad, I actually knew about (and understood) everything you wrote about. LOL but I remember well when I did not. This will be very helpful to brand new members.
Brad, thank you for clearing up the photo next to the comment section. And here I thought AR didn't like the way I looked!!! I guess I can cancel the visit to the plastic surgeon. Whew...
Really, thank you, very helpful post. Only 2543 plus/minus points to go before you see MY mug!
Brad, excellent article. Definitely do continue this series as it's very well laid out, informative and easy to understand.
Mott: the badge you are missing is for the listing router. Check on your profile page/top left on info on how to get a campaign started.
Hi Brad,
Thanks for answering all of these questions. It definitely saves a lot of time having the answers in one place.
-Lisa
Brad - Once again some useful tips that we all need to bookmark! By the way, I love the bookmark feature!!! Thanks!
Hi Brad, I liked this post a lot and I for one would like to encourage you to keep up the frequently asked FAQ. I'm not a newbie but I picked up two tidbits from your information. I'm sure it's time consuming but it is very much appreciated.
Thankx for posting the FAQs. I would like to see this continued, as I learn some new things, just be reading this post. And I'm now in my six months with AR. Thanks,
Brad, thanks a million. I had the same question regarding the photos on the posts, and now I know the answer. Okay, we're all good.
Thank you for all of this good information! Now some of my questions have been answered.
I'm a big fan of Q&A so thanks for this Brad. I especially appreciate the explanation regarding "catergories."
Hey, Brad! The FAQ idea is stellar. It's great to review- I always seem to find one thing or another that I don't know. This will make the transition much easier for new members- great job!
ActiveRain has so many features and it can seem overwhelming in the beginning, and even when you've been here a while, but we also have so many helpful members asking great questions and posting great information, this is the heart of AR and why it has become so successful and continues to thrive.
I will continue these FAQ's as often as possible and I'll try not to be redundant with the Q$A's. :-))
Brad,
Thank you for all of the good information. And thank you for all of your help.
Brad,
You're just the best when it comes to explaining how things work in the Rain. I'm looking forward to hearing about Ambassadors.
Mike in Tucson
Brad, even though I am clicking the "Notify me of comments" I'm not getting comments except on a few blogs, mostly featured ones and my own. Is there some kind of glitch going on? When I click the "notify" there is no place most of the time to put in a word. Can you check for me. I'm thinking of having to write a blog about, "Where'd all the fun go?" Thanks.
P. S. I forgot to click the "notify" until now so am doing it right now. Forgetting is easy with the location of the new comments phrase.
great inf as always Brad - keep posting!!
Thank you for clarifying some questions I had. . .
Thanks for all the great answers. I didn't know some of them and I have been here for over a year.
oh, and I thought the gold star was cuz I'm cute ;-)
Why'd you repost this?
Thanks for all the info, Brad. :)
Thanks for the answers to some of the questions I've been thinking about.
Good morning early bird! You posted this at 3:45am? Wow! I am always glad to see your post so I can keep up with all the new changes and developments here at Active Rain! (I bet your going to need a nap later today!
Brad - Great list of questions ! Thanks for sharing them. I was suprised I knew the answer already to some of the questions. Does that make me a veteran ? LOL. Seriousy though, is very informative. There is so much going on here in the Rain !!
Thanks so much Brad--your information is always so helpful to us newbies!!!
Thanks Brad. You answered many of my questions. I really appreciate this week in review.
Brad, it's scary when you answer questions that I didn't know I had. :)
Brad, it's scary when you answer questions that I didn't know I had. :)
You are full of yourself.
Thanks, Brad. This summary is very helpful. Please keep these coming.
Brad, thank you for the Q & A, it was very helpful and I think the new features that you have added are helpful and I am not sorry that I have to pay to get myself noticed!!!
Brad:
Good post. Thanks. I do business in New York City...any thoughts as to if/when the listing router will cover NYC?
Thanks,
Rich
Brad, good idea with the FAQ post.
I have a question, do you know when consumers will be able to comment on Localism?
Thanks,
Mike
Brad, love the format of this - so easy to understand and some great questions covered with nice explanations. As always you are a wealth of info and hope that a blog like this will reduce your calls and emails at least a little bit. The one thing I've noticed is that because of emails like this, you have truly created a library of info that once you get the hang of the system it's so easy to know where to go to find it - thanks for always providing great tools and resources for all of us. ~Anne Marie
Thanks for the great list of fantastic questions. I always learn something new - like the fact that you are still adding functionality to the Outside Blogs. I too would like to add GoogleAnalytics to mine when the capability is there!
Brad, You do such a great job of answering questions in ways that explain so the questioner is informed. Thanks for posting these.
This is good for us all but especially for those new active rain members to refer to. Keep it coming!
Portsmouth NH Real Estate
Brad...
Yeah, keep these posts going ... it's timely information and will probably ease your feedback load!
Great Idea Brad !!
Inevitably there will be one or two questions that we can all benefit from.
Hope you are able to keep it going !
Cheers !
Sheldon
Great Post. This actually answers alot of questions...
Neat way to quickly address some thorny topics, pesky questions needing answering Brad.
Hi Brad. Thank you for the clarification.
Well done Brad!
Posts like these need their own section for newbies and verterans alike.
I learn something new every day here in the Rain!
Excellent explanations here, Brad. Good idea for a post since the community here is growing I'm sure there are a lot of questions in users minds.
Lora - the bookmark icon should be on every post created in the rain. If it's not showing up on every post, send me a link to that post so I can check it out. It may just be a browser thing.
Sheila - I get plenty of material for questions and answers like these, and you're never a bother. It might save you some time though by going to ActiveRainGuide.com (link at bottom of this post) this is where members write tutorials and posts to help other members in the rain. Search no more... :-)
Jeremy - hahaha!! ...about the same amount you'll be getting here in the days ahead... :-O
Mott - you can get a featured post badge (just keep writing great content), or start a Listing Router Campaign, this would get you that additional badge to even out your row. You are too funny, but I totally understand... that would drive me nuts too! lol~
KK - I forgot, let me go look, I'll be right back....
Brad- first let me commend you for not only the content of this post (extremely helpful) but also for the time at which you posted it!! You are committed!
Several of my questions were answered as I just posted my first blog (no it wasn't stellar, but I'm working on it). I too did not know why my picture did not appear as coincidentally that was what the content of my blog was about---
I look forward to more of these FAQ's. I am spending an exhorbitant amount of time reading all the information available, as well as trying to digest what much of it actually means. Then I spend more time looking things up.
Thanks, you are a wealth of information!
A lot of generally questions here. I will be sure to point some of my newbie associates here for help.
KK - I'm back. First, go to "My Home" then hover your mouse over the "My Comments" at the bottom of the page on the left hand sidebar, this will expose your member number (it will appear at the bottom of your browser window in the left hand corner) now you can create an obnoxious blingy subscribe button thingy by adding your member number to the end of this url. Just create the button and link it to this:
http://activerain.com/action/blogs_admin/subscribe?subscribed_agent_id=22617
Just take out my number (22617) and put yours there which is 990 (HOLY COW) you joined AR when there were only 989 members? WOW!
BTW - Congrats on hitting 300,000 points too! You rock!!
Everybody should Subscribe to Kristal, in fact... Here's a link!
http://activerain.com/action/blogs_admin/subscribe?subscribed_agent_id=990
Thanks Brad ... I'm going to jump into AR again!
Thank you for the e-mail changing information --
I thought it was me!
Paula - those are great questions for future FAQ's, thanks.
Margaret & Fran - thanks, I'm happy to be here. Margaret, I put directions above for you and KK, comment #85, I hope it's clear, makes sense, and works for you. :)))
Andrea - you're almost there...
Lee and Pamela - it is time consuming yes, but if this helps save members time, in the long run, it will save me some time too. Thanks for your appreciation.
Amber - that categories question is so often overlooked and it's really apparent how important it is when you create or setup an outside ActiveBlog. Many members have to go back in and edit all their posts to add a topic and channel, I hope that one really helps some folks here.
Barbara - not sure I understand your question (put in a word?) You will only be notified when a comment is made on that post, you should be getting notified on every one you check, unless there's a glitch or bug in the system. I'll make sure the guys are watching for that.
Janie - that too! :-)
Drew - not a repost, it got featured in hopes that it will help other members. I am still getting these same questions on other posts and via the ticket box not to mention the amount of email I get each day. Just trying to save everyone some time including myself. Sometimes blogging keeps me from blogging! LOL~
Russell - yes, there is no 8-5 clock when you're on the "rain team!" But, Massage this morning at 10:00, then a 1/2 hour nap at 1:00, then back in the rain till bedtime! All in a days work!! :-)))
Bob - or whoever you are, that may very well be... hahaha!!
Rich - Listing Router works anywhere you can create a link to a IDX site. Are you telling me there is no IDX sites available for you to use in NYC? There has to be some available there, that's not a listing router issue, it's a need for a supplier o IDX in your area.
Mike - Localism is our next huge project and allowing consumers and traffic to comment is the #1 priority on that list. We have a whole list of things that will be addressed in the new Localism launch and upgrade.
Anne Marie - thank you, I really appreciate you taking the time to say that. Believe it or not, this post is already freeing me up to work on some other areas and help other members as I don't have to keep answering the same questions over and over again. (not that I mind of course) I have already emailed links to this post to numerous members which is saving us all some time. Wasn't sure how effective this would be but so far, it seems to be helping others and it's helping me too. :-))
Richard - exactly. So let me ask you, why is it that us musicians like to use that word feedback? ROFL!!
Lori - There is a ton of info here (nearly 1,000,000 member posts) so I totally understand what you mean. You can find alot of the tutorials and help posts in the HELP/FAQ group at the bottom of any AR page. There is also a group blog by members here at ActiveRainGuide.com which has a ton of how-to posts that might save you some time looking for them all over the network. Just remember...baby steps.
David - thanks, that's what we call "paying it forward" and I for one, sure appreciate when members do that. I wouldn't be here had other members not done that for me when I joined too. Thanks.
Brad,
Thanks for sharing and hope to see you again soon in West Tennessee. Maybe our friend David in Memphis can get a class together and I will come there if you are the teacher.
Brad, Where do you put the obnoxious blinky subscribe button? At the bottom of the post or on the sidebar?
Pippa - great to hear you're coming back, you've been missed! :-))
Mike - that sounds great, would love to come out there again, I loved Memphis, and Dyersburg too.
Gena - you can put it anywhere your "Big" heart desires. The instructions I gave above are for adding it to your Blog posts, there's already a subscribe button on your sidebar. Stay safe in that Sacramento rain today.
Hi Brad,
I have an outside blog, however my photo is not showing up in my comments. What do I have to do additionally for this to happen? Please advise.
Thanx,
Tiffany
Tiffany - you have 9160 points, your photo will start showing up at 10,000 points. You are almost there. :-) Regarding your outside Blog, the little red link that says "upgrade" next to the outside blog (located on your "my home" page) is what you'd need to do if you wanted to have the badge and photo show up now. Currently, it is not upgraded. If you need help with it, just let me know.
Brad, I am a bit confused (still new here). How does a public post differ from an outside post? What are the advanctages of the outside post? There must be something obvious here that I am totally missing. Thanks!
P.S. Always look forward to your blogs - they are so very helpful! Thank you on behalf of all of us at AR.
http://www.PoconoLandAndHomes.com
Renee - Outside posts and public posts are one in the same. There, no more confusion now. AR members only posts only allow members of AR to view and outside posts are for the public and consumers to view. The outside posts and outside blogs are the ones getting most the SEO and google juice. :-)
Thanks Brad.
Brad,
Great information and a great idea for a FAQ series. Regarding the last question in your post, about linking an outside blog to a new domain name, is it possible to use an existing domain name, or does Active Rain require that the domain name is originated through this service?
The 10k point requirement for a picture is sweet of you guys - great going with all your wonderful ideas! So how is the paid membership gogin? I know we have gotten a ton of new members - do you have a percentage yet of how many take advantage of it initially?
Brad,
Thanks for providing these answers, they are very helpful to newbies, as myself 1month. I ditto the comment by Anne Rains, I did not know my photo would appear once i reach 10,000. I appreciate that, too. I am half way there.
Jason - great question. You can use an existing domain, or one obtained outside AR, but you'll need to point the DNS nameservers to ns1.agentspaces and ns2.agentspaces in the location where you purchased and are hosting that domain name. Most members want nothing to do with this sort of techy setup and the time and understanding that it takes to set that all up. This is why we offer the domain names through us.
It's included with the ActiveBlogs and it only takes 2-3 minutes to set it up. When doing it the other way, it takes a lot longer and can take days or even weeks if one doesn't set it up properly. Best part is Jason, you get to make that choice. Hope that helps answer your question, again, it was a good one.
Maybe someone else has this question too, that's one of the beauties of Blogging eh? :-))
Courtney - it's going great right now and no matter how good it gets, it can always get better. :-) I don't have a percentage or number, but I assure you, I have been more busy than ever since the launch of outside ActiveBlogs, and the new rainmaker memberships. I see some members signing up just to take advantage of the Group/Team Blogs that they want to be contributors on.
Many others just want the traffic from the public access and SEO. Then we have a ton of existing members creating outside blogs on AR now too. Very Busy! I hardly have time to blog anymore. It's funny, and I always say this (many are probably sick of hearing me say it), but Blogging keeps me from Blogging sometimes!! lol~ :-)
Kathleen - just keep plugin away, we've all been there and thankfully many of us are stilll here. You're surrounded with people who understand and who had to go through and experience the exact same thing. Should make you feel better knowing that you're never alone here on AR. :)
Okay, Brad. I received not one comment after mine was made on this post and mine was about 50 or 51. I wish you'd check to see what the glitch is. I had to come back to the post to see if you'd answered my comment. I've already checked that I'd like to have comments sent to me so see if there is something wrong. I should have gotten so many comments that I'd go up and say, "Don't send me anymore!" Thanks.
Barbara Duncan
Brad,
Should anyone be advocating a domain company like GoDaddy or any others? (BTW: GoDaddy exploits women to sell its products...)
Brad,
it's great that I get answers when I didn't even know the questions. Thank you. I like the FAQ, keep doing them when you can.
Hi Brad! I am going to subscribe to your blog from now on. Thank you for the informative post that really helps!
Hi Brad - This is a great idea. I love hearing the questions that I've been wondering about myself and the ones that haven't even occurred to me yet. What a perfect guy you are to be answering all these questions. You are a fountain of wisdom with the gift of helps.
Have a wonderful week!
Marlene
Brad,
As always, very informative post, a lot of useful information, and always something new, what I did not know before
Thanks for posting this. Definitely answered a few questions from this relative newbie!
Barbara - no need to yell! I hear ya, unfortunately I can't fix what I can't replicate or make happen myself. I did send your issue into tech support so no need to "wish" I'd look into it, I already am. I have checked that box on numerous posts (maybe 30) and I am getting an email notification on every comment made on those posts. I wish I had an easy answer or solution for you, but I just can't make it not work. Hopefully we can figure it out soon.
Brett - GoDaddy is the largest name and domain hosting site in the world. If you added together the next 5 top hosting sites, combined, they wouldn't be as large as GoDaddy. So yes, I think advocating them is fine. All my domain names are hosted there except the ones AR hosts here.
Marlene - It's always great to hear from you, thanks for tooting my horn and for all your kind words and appreciation. Hope I'll get to see you again sometime soon, it's been nearly 2 years since we first met on AR and then in SF. Hope you'll go again this year if you can. :-)
Ann - answers to questions you didn't know you had, sure wish I could do that with the Real Estate market.
Dawn - thanks for subscribing, I'll try not to let you down.
Tim - I'd like to try and do these weekly if I can squeeze it into the schedule of weekly duties here.
Don - I'm glad this was useful for you. Thanks.
So much to learn and so little time! Thanks for the education.
Thanks for the info, Brad. Now I know why my picture never showed up on my comments. Only 2800 more points to go....wheeeee!
Your a great help Brad - I learned about the Notify Me of Comments section, thanks! I wondered where that went!
Hi Brad, nice you wrote this for the new members. I see a few things I didn't know. I'm curious about the ambassador badges. Thanks!
Thanks, Brad, for all the great information. It's comforting to know there's someone you can ask when you can't quite figure something out.
Thanks Brad! I always learn something new!!
These are great...yes keep publishing them! I learned something I had been wondering about already!!
Thanks. You've answered many of the questions I've been wondering about.
Thanks Brad, I had to do a little searching, but my questions have been answered.
Where does our outside blog go if we haven't paid our $19 yet? Do we still have the name we initially set up or do we start over? I thought I looked at my outside blog last week...
Maya - you still have your outside blog and domain name, but to get the full advantage of the rainmaker ActiveBlogs, you'd need to upgrade or start a new one. Either choice is fine. :-)
Brad - Thanks for the personal call yesterday. These helpful tips will go a long way to answering some questions that I (and I'm sure many others) have. I'm going to be setting up my outside blog in a few days just a little swamped right now, but I can't complain about that!
Simon - great talking to you too. I'm Here to help you if and when you need it. Looking forward to seeing your new outside blog.
Brad,
Thanks for posting the FAQ's.
You are always a fabulous resource! I wish I could find the time to really sit down, and figure all of this out!
Thanks as always,
Dagny
Brad ~ I hope you'll continue with more FAQs like this one, it's very helpful! Even though I knew a few of these things already, I really like reading them all. Thanks for your continued help and support!
I did not know most of the points you raised. Keep it up, I can use this information.
Dagny - spend an hour on my profile page and you'll know everything I know. :-))
Maureen - I will try to keep these going each week or until members or I run out of questions. At some point I would like to create a single library for all these. Maybe one day...
Wayne - there is a lot to learn, hopefully this makes the curve a bit less windy.
Great overview. I too had to figure some of this out, especially the topics for outside blogs! The "communities" or "areas" guide for outside blogs is great too, but we need to get the mapping fixed to add new communities, I haven't been able to add the last dozen or so that I've profiled.
Thanks so much for these, Brad! They were great tips!
Brad, What a great way to let all members of AR get better informed about these kinds of questions. Since I am a old member (in more ways than one:) I do get questions from Newbies and don't know of the differences these days. This was helpful!
Penny - it does work in Firefox Browser, but not in Internet Explorer. It's on our list of items to fix in the next releases. Thanks.
Elizabeth - thank you.
Diane - glad this was helpful for you. I have emailed this to so many people along with the other FAQ, it is saving us all some time and effort. I'm glad these are working out for some of our folks who find them.
THANKS! I was going NUTS trying to figure out why my picture did not show up with my comments any more and I could not find an answer.
You saved me from being up all night!
Thanks
Brad,
Thank you so much I was also trying to figure out why my picture would not show up on my comments, and I was able to get alot of other information out of your blog. Keep up the good work!
Brad,
Thank you for taking the time to post FAQ's. I'm a newbie and this answers a lot of my questions. Now I'm off to check out your other posts!

Thank you Brad, I found this very helpful. As a "newbie" I'll be referring back often I think.
Hi Shannon - keep reading posts like this and you won't be a "newbie" for long!! (BIG SMILE!!) :-)
