Brad - Thanks for this!  I always like learning more about SEO (which I've learned entirely on AR) and also passing it onto folks so that it may increase their business and internet presence.  You seem to be one of the masters ...

Hi Brad, This is some excellent advise for all of us, even those who think they know it. We can all learn a thing or two , probably a lot more than that. Book marking the page in AR is good but adding this post to Del.icio.us would also be most beneficial for those who can't take it all in one one setting.  I intend to read all of this a bit latter tonight, so I dragged the icon from the address bar on to my links bar and that makes it even easier. What say you?

Brad, I went back and was editing some old localism posts today. Oh my, some were terrible, I have learned so much here, but my first 6-8 months were pre-school. Thanks for all the good SEO links.

Posted by Missy Caulk, Savvy Realtor - Ann Arbor Real Estate (Missy Caulk TEAM) about 10 years ago

These SEO links will be a good study.

Thanks for getting them together. I already have beginning collection of SEO posts. All these SEO posts make more and more sense now after a couple months practicing SEO techniques.

Missy for a minute I thought you meant you had only been on AR for 8 months. That required a double check.

It is a good idea evidently to update some good localism posts. We have two weeks or so to get it done.

I am working to improve my "ugly and self serving footer." I plan to keep the self serving part, but I would like to improve the ugly part.

Then I will probably go back through some localism to see if I can find any of mine that are good. It may be smarter for me to try to do better going forward.

We need to get ready for the "ugly and self serving" land grab.

Hi Brad, I have found your posts to be very useful and informative.  I wish I knew anything as well as you know your trade.  I went to some of the links you have listed...and SEOBook seems to be the favorite; do you know what the difference is between joining for free and joining for a price?  I have found SEO to be one of the hardest things to ever get my arms around.  Seems every article/post on it has links and before you know it you are 11 pages deep and totally lost on what you originally went looking for.

I think I need a one on one coach...wonder how much that would cost????  (nudge nudge, poke poke)

Here's a couple of the tools I hope you found from the links in this post.

Posted by Brad Andersohn, ActiveBrad - 707.646.1876 (Director of Education & Industry Outreach at eXp Realty & RE Tech Campus) about 10 years ago

@Sally - it was intended for new members so they'd just have a place to start. There really is so much out there, a person new to SEO could go nuts!  (Just like we did) lol~  I still follow the blogs and some of these links so I can try and stay on top of the whole SEO thing.

@Debbie - now that's a scary thought, no pressure on me eh? :-)

@Christine - glad you're working with motivated buyers , IT IS GREAT!  Now SEO and get many more! :-)

@William - I just tried dragging the url to my toolbar and it worked great. Learned something new. I don't have a Del.icio.us button setup here, is that what you're using? If so, on every post? Just curious.

@Marilyn - just when you think you got it all down, something changes and if you don't keep up with this stuff, you really will get left behind. Most of these Google Blogs and SEO Book links stay pretty updated.

@Missy - you should do a post all about it. I think every member who has been here 6 months or more needs to do that. It's funny when we look back at what we wrote months or years ago, and sometimes its not so funny.  :-O

Posted by Brad Andersohn, ActiveBrad - 707.646.1876 (Director of Education & Industry Outreach at eXp Realty & RE Tech Campus) about 10 years ago

Bookmarked! Thanks for the post, very helpful!

Posted by Dan Dianda (ACQUIRE PROPERTIES) about 10 years ago

@Nancy @Elizabeth - I did write this post just for you. If it helps you understand SEO more than before you read it or checked out the links, then it did what it was suppose to do. You have to keep up on this stuff, or it gets overwhelming trying to learn it from scratch. This has both beginner, intermediate and advanced elements depending on which link you click and how deep you go.  :-)

@Lisa - don't get frustrated and don't give up. There are some wonderful people here on AR who really do get this stuff and can help you understand it.  This post is just a starting point, but will hopefully give folks some pages to bookmark so they can continue learning and growing. SEO is important, but connecting with those who really understand and get it, that's more important.

@Freddy - yes I doi use Google Analytics, there's a link above in this post. You place the code on amy page you want to track. Your profile or your Blog or your website.  As far as the widgets go, you place the code for themn in the same place you put the analytics code. Here's a link to the instructions on how to do that. Widgets: How To Add Them To Your Blog

@Cindy - though many of the tools available are FREE, the stuff many of these sites charge for is much more in depth training and support. Not sure I'd pay for it till I learned all I could for FREE.  If you're serious and need some help, you know where to find me. I'd be happy to offer you some assistance and support :-)

@David - he's coming along great! He has his heart set on becoming a Rock Star and buying Daddy a Harley...and maybe a new house in Ohio!  :-))

To all of you who commented on this post-

I just want to stop here and say thank you. I don't want you to think I am not reading every single comment, I just got a bit behind and might not be able to respond to each of you.  I know when someone passes over my comments, but comments to others, I take it personal (even though I shouldn't) but I want you ALL to know, I don't take any of your comments or time for granted.

I appreciate each and every one of you, and that's whether you comment on my Blog or not.  As the dust settles from our Localism and Outside Blog launch, I'll get back to having a bit more time to respond to ALL comments on my posts. Thank you sincerely!  :-))

@Matt - I have an idea, repetition might be the key!  What say you? lol~

@Laura - right back at ya!  Hey, hows the move coming along??  :-)

@Dick - next time you speak in my town and don't invite me, I'll see that Rich and Bob remove points!! :-))

@Lynne - all those types of html codes, widgets etc. go in your "Blog Description" box on the "My Settings" link. (Just under your Blog Title) Looking forward to meeting you in SF at Inman's RE Connect.

@Lane - Yes, quality content should be learned before SEO, it will definately get you more!!

@Ann - the more we surround ourselves with people and posts who know this stuff the faster and better we get at it.  I wanted this to be geared toward new members, but believe me, there is information at these links where I know the pros go too.  :-)

@Sally and David - there is some really simple stuff here for you, and some deeper SEO when you're ready. WHEN YOU'RE READY. They say you should only try to eat the elephant one bite at a time...   :-)

TOP SEO TOOLS: These videos are for those of you who get bored reading the links in this post.  These may be a bit more entertaining, and easier to understand when someone is actually walking you through it and showing you at the same time.

Here's my last video:

Matt Cutts from Google gives Tips On SEO -
It doesn't get any better than when it comes right from Google!

Anyone who watches all 5 videos above is guaranteed to come away with a much better understanding of SEO. Then you can go back to the links in this post, and each time you do, they will make more sense cents!  :-)

Wow! It could take weeks to filter through all the info in this one. Thank you for a place to go to find out about SEO. I spent about half an hour on a couple of the links. This is like a foreign language to me, but I keep learning bit by bit. Thanks Brad!

Quick Tip:  When I find a cool Blog post and I want another way to easily access it, you can minimize your Browser window, and with the screen half the size, grab the AR logo in the address bar next to the URL, and you can drag it onto your desktop, or into a custom made folder on your desktop. It will just be a shortcut, but it's easier to find them sometimes that way.  Very cool way to save some of your favs, my feelings won't be hurt if this isn't one of them. lol~  Ok, yes they will...  haha.

Oh Yeah, to create a custom AR folder on your Desktop, just right click your mouse on any blank part of the screen, scroll down to the option "New Folder", give it a name, and start dragging your fav posts to that folder.  You can do this with any website, blog, or post as long as there's a URL.  :-)  Goodnight.

Brad: this is one of the most useful posts I've come across in a long time. I book marked it, so when I had time, like now, I could go through the links thoroughly.  I can honesty say, I was/am not up-to-par on what SEO meant 100%. I knew it was important, but just hadn't "studied" what I should have on the topic.

Thanks for this....now I need to get back and study more.

Brad do you have any popcorn to go along with these videos?

Posted by Jeremy Blanton, Myrtle Beach REALTOR®- myrtlebeachhomesblog.com (Myrtle Beach Homes Blog) about 10 years ago

Teri - I do like to use your Lady In Red as a bookmark to see where I'm at in allo these comments, but I don't want you to feel for one moment that you are "used", that would NOT be good, nor the case.  :-)  I'm glad you got to see that comment, sometimes I leave posts, within a post for those who do read through the comments.  I was just saying on Maureens post that there is often times more value in the comments than there is on the actual post. Funny, but true.  One could learn a great deal by looking deeper into the conversation threads on some of these posts.  :-)

Jeremy - Jiffy Pop available online for only .99 cents.  lol~

Hey Woody, Thanks. I think there is as much information in the videos above as there is in the links.  Combined, this post really should give people a great place to start diving in and learning all they can about SEO.  There are hundreds of sites and blogs about it, but having one that gets you a kick start was my only intention.

Ok - I'm not sure I should even ask, but I'm not seeing how the wiki would help. Are you found on google searches more...or it somehow simply helps your SEO?

Beth - if you watch any of the video's in that wiki post, or i you check out any of the links or examples of the other wikis, and how they're being used, I think you'll have some good direction on how you may want to use yours.  I've added some links to that post to help you.  :-)
