Now that you were invited, or found and signed up on Active Rain, here are the "STEP-by-STEP" instructions on how to set-up your Profile. This is the First Step in maximizing the value and benefits of your FREE membership here!
STEP 1 - BEFORE YOU BEGIN:
You'll always want to be sure to "LOGIN" to Active Rain before you do anything. If it's been a while since you've been here, you may have forgotten your password. If so, here's what to do:
1. Click "Login" at the top right of your monitor. If it says LOGOUT, then you are already logged in.
2. If you have forgotten your password or login, just click on the link "Forgot Your Password" and the screen below appears:
3. Enter your user name or email address, then click on "Email Me" and your password will be sent to you.
STEP 2 - SETTING UP or EDITING YOUR PROFILE PAGE:
1. Once logged in, from any screen in Active Rain, begin by clicking on the "MY HOME" link at the top of your screen.
2. On the left side of your screen, you will see the options below available: Select the "EDIT" link next to "My Profile" and you will be directed to your Profile Page.
3. Now you are ready to SETUP / EDIT / MODIFY your Profile page on Active Rain, the following screen appears:
4. Fill out the information as demonstrated below:
Just a couple of tips:
1. Don't try to setup or have multiple profiles on Active Rain. One is all you need.
2. If you want your name and company to appear when you comment on other members posts, add it to your last name field: ( ie: Andersohn - The Escrow Guy )
3. Use the "Description Box" as your One-Liner "VALUE-STATEMENT." In other words, if you were in a room full of your competitors, why would someone choose you as their Industry Professional.
4. Remember: You can always come back and edit, change, and modify any section of your "profile page" including if you move, change companies, or re-locate etc.
STEP 3 - UPLOADING YOUR PHOTO:
1. This is a "very important" part of your Profile. You want your clients and visitors to know it's you!
2. Click on the "Upload Picture" link under the Shadow Face on your profile page.
3. Using the "Browse Box", you can search your computer for your favorite photo of yourself. Once you select your photo for upload, simply click on the "Upload Photo" box. Don't forget to click on "Save Profile" when you are done.
(TIP: Use a picture of YOU. Don't use a "Scenery" or "Graphic" for your photo, your Profile is about YOU! There are many reasons for NOT using other pictures in place of YOUR PHOTO.)
PART ONE OF YOUR PROFILE IS NOW COMPLETED! FOR THIS YOU SHALL BE AWARDED ACTIVE RAIN POINTS WHICH UNFORTUNATELY CANNOT BE EXCHANGED FOR GIFTS AND PRIZES LATER, BUT THEY WILL HELP YOU MOVE UP THE LIST AS THE "FEATURED PROFESSIONAL" IN YOUR AREA.
Here are just a few samples of what other members have done with their "Profile Pages" on Active Rain:
Karen George Bryant Tutas Sarah Cooper Colleen Kulikowski Kristal Kraft Laurie Manny Lenn Harley Renee Burrows Chris Elizabeth Griffith Craig Schiller Mariana Wagner Candace Robinson Rick & Ines Jeff Dowler Thesa Chambers Ann Cummings Nick M Midori Miller Maureen Henry Jeff Turner
Now you are ready to begin the Second part of setting up your profile page. This is where the fun really begins. You are only limited to your own creativity, and there are many members here including myself, that can even help you with that!
Go to the next post titled: "How To Complete Your Active Rain Profile - Part II" which will cover the "About Us", the "Areas of Expertise", and the "Testimonial" sections of your Profile.

As simple as it may seem, I did not do this: add it to your last name field: ( ie: Andersohn - The Escrow Guy ). Thanks for the tip!
Wow,
Finally I have done something right. Checked it against your advise and it is the way it should be.
Am I getting smarter?
You are so full of knowledge and it is awesome that you are so willing to take the time to share the information with the rest of us. I have found your tutorials to be very helpful. They are always laid out perfectly and written in a manner that most anyone could understand. Thank you!
Nice Job giving the specifics on how to set it up.
Thank You
Great info. Brad! I have shared it with agents new to A|R. BTW, how do you get the screen to "snapshot" so you can post it and out arrows on it as you did in your blog?
Tina in Virginia
Ann
Great stuff, Brad. you are really a master at there tutorials. Should be required reading for all new folks (and even some NOT so new folks).
Jeff
Larry and Diana - thanks!
Debe - that will help your SEO and backlink rewards. More google juice is what I understand!
Jon - you are getting better every day! :-)
Katerina - thanks, I like your tutorial posts as well!
Mike - I was already working on this one for a while. My brother and I will meet for the first time on 3/29/08. :-)))))
Lissa - I am glad you appreciate these and that they are easy enough for most to understand! Thanks!! :-)
Dan - it's so easy cause you're just so good! I throw these out with the hopes that they'll help at least a few...
Natalie - glad you liked the video, it was fun, and Tony and Frank are both a kick in the pants! Fun & Cool! :-)
Tina - I also did a post called "New Members Start Here", but it has way more stuff than just setting up your profile. This is just to help out those who want to take the next step with their membership here.
Brad,
Thanks for the advice. The tip for adding to your last name is a great detail from an experienced member.
Question I uploaded the wrong photo to my profile by accident. How do I get rid of it? If I upload the right one will it replace the one I have or simply ad it?
Thanks
Jeff
Jeff - just click browse, select a new image or photo, select open, and then save. As long as the new photo or image isn't too large of file or in the wrong format, it will replace the old photo. Don't forget to save your profile when you're done. Let me know if you still need help with it. be happy to walk you through it if you need. :-)
Thanks for the information. I really appreciate it when people put this kind of info on here.
Dave
Thanks Brad, I wasn't sure if it would allow more than one photo. I din't want to end up with one that I didn't want and could'nt delete.
Dave - no worries, I know you'd have done the same thing for me right? I appreciate the comment.
Jeff - I totally understand. Unfortunately, your profile photo is limited to one, but you can put others on your profle page in different locations. If you check out my profile on AR, I have a bunch of categorized posts that will help you with other areas of AR too. Let me know if you ever need any assistance here ok? Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Just wanted to thank you. Your how-to blog has helped me get my profile started. Thanks so much!! - Being a newbie on ActiveRain has been extremely overwhelming, and your information was much appreciated.
Angela - I'm sure you've received a very warm welcome here from all the other members, I want to extend an additional welcome to you. Thanks for the compliment on this post. I'm looking forward to seeing your profile and your contributions here. :-)
Thank You for the information.
Olga - don't mention it, it was my pleasure! :-)
Thanks for the personal welcome!
Angela - great to have you on board. Have a great weekend! :-)
Thanks for the info -- I'm still relatively new and have found many of your blogs helpful. keep em coming
Kelly - I'll keep em coming as long as you keep using them and leaving me nice comments like that! :-) Thanks and welcome to the AR community, we're glad you're here.
Can someone help me with what I might be doing wrong. When I write a blog, the title of the blog does not show up when I google that title, instead the default title of my blog shows up. For example, Mark's Blog is what shows up instead of the title of the blog.
Mark - be happy to help you out. Shoot mean email or a call and we'll get this resolved or at least answered for you. I need a few more details in order to help. My number and email are on my profile page. Look forward to hearing from you... thanks! :-)
Pretty cool site. I have a question though, when I signed up and activated I guess I somehow signed up for the wrong occupation title. How do I change it. I can't seem to find it in the edit profile section. Thanks!!
Scott - first off, you'll need to be logged into the network to do anything. I see by your comment not being linked that you are not logged in. To change your occupation, just login, click on edit next to your profile link, and make the change. If you are referring to the "type" ie: Real Estate Agent, Lender etc. we'll have to change that for you. Send me an email if you'd like that portion of your profile changed or you can contact AR by clicking on the link at the bottom of every page in the right hand corner. Hope that helps answer your question. :-)
I'll be working on my profile with this blog open in a seperate window to keep referring to.
Thanks!!!!
Mary - feel free to contact me anytime if you have questions or need help here. :-)
Thanks so much for your great instructions! I found them to be very helpful and very easy to use.
Way to go Brad!!!
Get those profiles up and blog a time or two and when Lenn goes looking for a referral agent, someone will be just right.
Thanks.
I checked my profile to what you said and I seem to have gotten it right.
Hi Brad,
I miss Caliornia, I used to live in Vista about 18 years ago, when it wasn't too conjested. I've also lived in Oregon, Washington, Mississippi, Florida, New York, Michigan and now in Atlantic Canada. In the past 3-4 months I've learned many new internet techniques, especially HTML coding, which I use in my Prudential Website. But I feel like I haven't learned enough.
My question is; how do I create a move appealing ActiveRain webpage, with each side having more of my information on other blog sites or where I'm connected or even more visually appealing. (ex: your "Golden Gate Bridge" or where I'm currently living "Saint John panorama"??
Could you please direct me in the right direction. THANKS!!!
;>)
Ryan - glad these helped you out a bit! :-)
Lenn - you sure have a way with words, an yet your message is so profound!! I hope members who read your comment take it for the full value it's worth. Thanks, you're the best! :-)
Muldowney Team - it's an on going effort to really get it right. As you change and business changes, so should your profile. We learn and grow everyday, your profile allows you to reflect that, and share it with others. :-)

Ann-Marie - You can use the ActiveRain Customizer to create a Blog that looks and feels the way you want it. It will not effect your Profile page, only your Blog pages. If you want a video tutorial of how to do that, just click on my name at the bottom, you'll find a link on my profile page under "Video Tutorials". Let me know if you need any help after that. Have fun, with it :-)
Brad, do you know how to change your profession once it's been set? I'm currently listed as Real Estate - Agent and need to be listed as Other.
Thanks,
Jared
Urban Detroit Wholesalers, LLC
www.WholesaleMi.com
Brad,
Thanks for the great post.
-Joe
Jared - I do. I will go ahead and makethat change for you. I will change it from RE Agent and make it Real Estate - Other. FYI - no need to post links to your website in other member comments, they can click on your name to get to your page, some will delete your comments as this is considered SPAM or Hijacking by many in the blog world. Thanks my friend. :-)
Thanks for the concise explanation, I will refer new realtors here to get started!
Coco
Joe - happy to do it!! :-)
Coco - this is a great start for new members, there's a ton of really great stuff on ActiveRain, I'm sure you've discovered that already. Thanks. :-)
Brad - An agent that accepted my invitation to join AR, asked me for help on doing her profile. I'm sending her your way. You have such a straight forward way of explaining the process and I'm still a student myself. Thanks for taking the time.
Brad - An agent that accepted my invitation to join AR, asked me for help on doing her profile. I'm sending her your way. You have such a straight forward way of explaining the process and I'm still a student myself. Thanks for taking the time.
Pam - you can send her my way or direct her to my profile page here on AR. There are more posts like this one there, and they are all sorted by category. Happy to help out any way I can. Thanks for the kudos! :-))
Hi Brad
great post, Thank you for sharing
Do you know if I can change my profile name?
thanks in advance
Anne
Anne - do you mean your user name or your Blog name? The answer to both is yes. AR will need to change your user name, you can change your Blog name. Email or call me if you want your profile name changed. As long as that name is available, it's no problem to do. Let me know, thanks! :-)
Brad, finally got my profile cleaned up and I;m ready to start "a new" one. This time I am going to do it right and will read your blogs. I have been shooting first and then asking questions! Boy, I am glad I'm not a cop---there would be no criminals left! lol
p.s. are they doing anything about those passwords you need to type to submitt your commment?
Aida - we need to have the SPAM protection on our network as do most others, that's why you have to enter a security word or answer on most Blogs and comment posts. Without it, you'd become an email cop, and taking many prisoners! lol~ Congrats on getting your profile cleaned up, it's like getting the dishes all done, it feels good don't it? :-)
Can anyone tell me how to change the website settings on my AR blog? Although I change it on my profile and save it, it keeps pointing to my old website address? Thanks in advance for help.
Jamey
Jamey - well since you are on my Blog post, I guess I can be anyone? lol~ You can point to any website you'd like from your profile page. Just go to the edit function on your profile, place in the new url in the website box, then click on the "Save Profile" button or icon. Then view your profile and click on the link to be sure it's working properly. You may need to refresh your browser so the new link will show instead of the cached one you had previously. Let me know if that helps if you haven't corrected it already. :-)
That's funny. I thought by now you would be long gone from this post and too busy to answer..... LOL thanks so much for responding. If you look at my blog on the right hand side it says website and it points to an old KW website. I have changed it and saved it a million times in my profile and this link still points to my old website, it's right above "tag cloud". The darn thing will not change? Any ideas?
Hey Brad,
I have had a total brain fade. I have a new testimonial I want to add and for the life of me, I can't figure out how to do that. I went to my profile and the existing testimonials, but it doesn't seem to be the right place to do this. What am I missing.
Also...while I have you, one of my posts was featured this week and I got a bunch of points for it. How does that happen? I am very appreciative, of course!
Carol
Jamey - first make sure you're logged in, then click on the Add/Remove that is just above the link. Then click on Edit and change the URL to anything you want. That's all you need to do. I left you a VM message a few minutes ago, feel free to call or cantact me if you're still having trouble with it. :-)
Carol - Go to your profile link and next to it you'll see the edit link. Click on that and it will take you to your profile edit page. You can add your testimonials there. Congrats on your Featured post. It happens when you provide great content on your posts. The extra points you receive are because it got featured. :-)
This is really great! I am signing up with a friends help tomorrow and this is a good way to dip my toe in the water!
Thanks
I've been trying for days to add new testimonials to my profile. After entering the information on the profile edit page, I click on "save profile" and get an "error on page" message at the bottom of the page. It won't save the new information. Any suggestions?
I thought I knew how to do this and then I found this post and still learned a few tricks...thanks Brad!
Nancy - not sure what would be causing that, haven't seen that one yet. If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer as your browser, you might want to try Mozilla Firefox instead. If you are still having a problem, let me know and I'll see what I can try to figure out for you. Sometimes it's just your browser settings or there's a popup blocker somewhere in your system that may be causing it. Let me know. :-)
New Jersey Realtor - there are always more tricks and tips to learn, just when you think you've got it all figurerd out, someone will come along with some great idea or tip to share. Ya gotta love this place! :-)
You mentioned that the "username" would determine where your profile appears or something like that. What does that mean? I looked at others' usernames and could not recognize a pattern of any kind. Is this alphabetical? Please give me an example of how a particular username would make a difference in placement.
You can add your company name to your user name or your tagline if you want to get recognized with it attached to your name. It has no bearing on where your profile will appear, but it will show up on every signature you leave on every comment of every post....as long as you're logged in when you comment. I put a sample in the post above for you. :-)
Brad - Thanks for adding links to a bunch of good profiles for us to check out. Although I have done some work on my profile, I now see how much more I can accomplish.
Pam - it's an ongoing thing. As you change, so should your profile. As you grow, so should your profile, as you become more successful...well....you get the picture. :-)
Hi Brad,
WOW. I was going to call you 'Da Man' but I see that has already been done lol. I'm a total newbie & have been devouring your tutorials (like Cleo. Well, in her case-not tutorials, maybe tuna! She's a darling cat, by the way). Anyway, I'll keep pouring thru the posts. I tried to add you (associate) but didn't have any luck. How does one sign up for someone's posts? It would be cool if there was some order to getting started. I went thru most of the profiles that you highlighted as examples. They were awesome. Thanks for all that you do ;0
Marian - there is a getting started link that may help you. It's on the main page of AR in the "More Information" box. Check it out. Welcome to AR, you'll love it here and the rewards and results from your efforts will be unbelievable. :-)
BTW - Cleo loved your comment and says Thanks...well, I think that's what the meow meant when I held her up close to the screen. lol~
Brad you are the best instructor on AR, letting you teach me will make me STAR! and it is all because of you
Bless you
Mike
Mike - you are just too kind, with comments like that, I'll see to it that you get the help and support you might need to be that STAR. Loved it, thanks!! :-))
Hi Brad.
The tutorial made setting up my profile very easy. I just noticed that I am still listed as a "loan officer", when I have in fact transitioned to a real estate agent. I don't see any way to make the change.
Any suggestions?
Terri Hattaway, Realtor
Terri - I just corrected that for you, You are now Officially a REALTOR® on the AR Network.
Thanks Brad.
You and this entire community are amazing!
Terri - and it's members like you that help make it that way! :-)
Brad,
As always, thank you for your concise, easy to understand directions. It's always good to review the basics!
Brad.. this is a great step by step on setting up the profile...
Brad,
Thanks so much! I'm just getting started on ActiveRain, and your tips were very clear and helpful!!!!! Keep 'em coming!
Leigh - my pleasure. :-)
Roland - glad you could use it. Let others know who might be struggling. Thanks.
Maggie - Welcome. Doors always open if you need anything. :-)
Brad,
This is just what I have been looking for! I have been a "lurking" member for a while now and am ready to get started. This post is great information and I expecially appreciate the examples to look at for ideas. Thanks again!
Karen - awesome! No more excuses for lurking now, I'm looking forward to your Blog posts. :-)
Thanks for the info.

Hi Brad,
Wow, these are great and extremely helpful. Question for you, what do we need to do to use this post on our own site...giving you credit of course?
Thanks,
Audra
Audra - feel free to place a "link" anywhere you want back to this post, do not copy and paste the content, Harlen will find you. :-)) Thanks.
Brad, how can I center my blog on the page? I must be looking in the wrong places. When I post my article is always far right and down. Most other blogs are centered. Thanks Rich Charlotte NC
Rich, sounds like you have some code or pictures or images that are too large, this will cause your overall Blog to be off-centered. Find the post with the oversized image, and you've fixed the problem. :-)
Brad,
It is alway the same, get the basics right. I'll be going back to check mine to make sure I have everything done correctly. Thanks.
Derenda - I'm sure it's right, but everyday there is room for improvement, that's what life is all about. :-)
Brad,
Not sure how many of your blogs I have used to improve my use of AR. Thanks for taking the time to make it easy for me to make the most of what AR has available.
Kevin - shall I guess one or two? LOL~ Thanks man, have a great Holiday. :-)
I am trying to delete my profile on Active Rain. How can this be done?
Diane - Only AR Staff can do this for you. Let me know by confirming in an email, and I will delete your profile for you. Thanks. :-)
Nice,Very fluid instructions for a guy who can hardly sit still thats a big score if I could assign points you would get a truck load. TIM BROWN
Tim - thanks, and I appreciate the truck that just pulled up in front of my house!! :-)))
everything's working just fine so far in 2009, thanks
thanks a lot...
David - that's good to know! :-)
Is there a way for me to transfer my home page name to a different one, or do I need to re-join for a new one? My current one is kithed because that was a screen name I was using at the time, but did not realize that my web page URL would be condemned with that or I would have used something a little more appropriate. Thanks for any help.
Thank you, very helpful
I just joined ActiveRain. When I registered I entered that I was a Realtor. As I pressed the send button, for some reason I see that it put me as a financial planner (in so many ways, that is funny) Anyway, how in the heck do I change that. I have looked everywhere. Tried to contact ActiveRain, by phone(always busy) and by support email. Nothing. I don't want to do anything else until I can get this fixed.
Anyone out there with suggestions?
Thanks for the tips. I am having a problem having my name & company name appear in my signature. Could it be because I originally signed into AR as a brokerage rather than ab individual?
Let's see what happens when I try it here.
Still only showing the company name (with edit/delete behind it). Please help!
Ed - you can change your user name on your profile and also edit your settings page, there is no need to rejoin and ceate a new profile.
Mechelle, I'll go ahead and change your category now. We were all out at a conference, sorry I didn't get back to you or get this done sooner! :-)
Philadelphia Supreme Properties - you need to go to your profile and edit the name and company section. First click on edit next to profile but only after you make sure you're logged into AR. Let me know if you still need help. (The edit/delete is suppose to be there)
Help! Newbe here. Can't change my email or cell number on my profile. Both fields are in green. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong please. TIA.
Jim and Mary - just make sure you are logged into AR, then click on the "My Home" link in the upper right hand corner, then click on "Edit" next to MY PROFILE on the left sidebar of that page.
You can edit your email, phone, fax etc, there. Let me know if you still get stuck... :-)
How do I change my profile from Virtual Assistaint to Real Estate Agent ?
I just became a licensed REALTOR/Broker in NC and I do not want to start a new profile.
Thanks.
Kathleen
You are such a help. Thank you.
Kathleen - Congratulations!!
I already took care of that for you. Best of luck in your new endeavors! :-)
Does anyone know how to change you "title". Ex. If your listed under notary and would like to change to real estate agent??? Please help
Michael - we have to do that for you. I will take care of that right now. :-)
Michael - your profile already says Real Estate Agent, not notary. Just fyi...
Brad, I just passed my Real Estate Exam today, so I will be going from Loan Officer, to Real Estate Agent, I tried updating my profile to denote the job title change, but can not seem to locate where I do that.
Your help would be very much appreciated.
Nancy
Anyone know how to delete a profile? I created a second account with the intent of deleting the first. Now I can't seem to find anytning about deleting an account. I'd rather not have a 'dead' acount hanging around forever.
Nancy - I'll take care of that for you.
Todd and Devona - let me know the user name you used to create the account you want deleted and I'll take care of it for you. Be sure to give me the user name ONLY for the one you want deleted. :-)
Nancy - Done! :-)
Is there any way to change the email address in my profile? If I go into edit profile section, I can change everything but the email, which is "grayed out."
I am also having a problem changing the email address in my profile? If I go into edit profile section, I can change everything but the email, which is "grayed out." I'm logged in and can update the other fields?? Steve
George and Steve -
To have your email address changed, send a support ticket to support@activerain.com and include your AR Profile name along with the email address you'd like to have active on your profile. Thanks. :-)
This process was pretty simple, however I hope adding additional content will be as easy.
More great tips - thanks.
Im a baby newbie for sure ! My problem I have is that I go to post a blog and it says members only. What .. I want it to be viewed by the public. So I go to the drop down menu and umm there is no place to click on public viiewing. HELP , should i just start all over and get another account?? I would love it if some one knows what I am talking about :)
April - ActiveBrad here to the rescue. :-)) Here's a link that explains the membership and should answer your questions.
http://activerain.com/blogsview/925822/ActiveRains-NEW-Membership-Plan
You can also view my profile for more tutorials or visit the HELP/FAQ link at the bottom of every AR page. There is also the ActiveRainGuide.com site. Let me know if you still need help. Welcome to ActiveRain.
PS. Your photo will appear in comments when you have hit the 10K points mark. Start Blogging, it's the ONLY way.
Great ! Thanks so much ! I will let you know if I can figure that out! Chances are it will take forever ! :)
April - thank you, it shouldn't take you forever, that's why you have me here. :-))
Hi Brad,
I decided to spend Easter weekend doing something fun and productive - had a golf lesson yesterday - very productive - want to be a scratch golfer this year, but I digress - more importantly in order to be able to fund the golf - have been spending hours reading up on the Active Rain site and learning about bloggging.
As I stumble and tumble my way around the site - I came to realize that when I go to find where I am and who else is in the site (read - 'ahead of me') under Real Estate Profile - I am listed as Real Estate Sales Representative and would prefer to be under the category Real Estate Agent - I have spent 3-4 hours now looking for blogs on how to change it. While I have learned about so many other things that I didn't even know that I didn't know (a true unconscious incompetent) so it wasn't a waste of time - there doesn't appear to be anything in My Profile to do this. Can you help please? Your posts are awesome - thanks so much for 'paying it forward'!
Hi Kelley - sounds like "par" for the course... (no pun intended) There is a lot of really great info to learn here on AR. Rather than point you to the post that reflects how to change your category type, I've gone ahead and just changed it for you. It's an admin feature that only the AR admin staff can change. Good luck on your golfing endeavor this year, and oh yeah...
Have A Great Easter!
Thanks for making everything very easy for the newbies.
Thanks Wendy - now I feel like I'm chasing or following you around my blog. LOL~
Feel free to contact me anytime if you ever need any help or have any questions. :-)
Hi Brad...
I have been inactive for quite a while and have decided to become more actively involved here... so... some things have changed and I need to edit my profile. I was able to edit everything except my email address... the box has a gray background and is not accessible.
How do I change my email address?
Thanks for your time and consideration...
Tsnyder
P.S. If you need to email me the correct address is DGMarketing@mchsi.com The email that is currently in my profile no longer exists.
Brad...
I just noticed the post where you gave the email address to have my email changed... thanks!
Tsnyder
Terry - I have taken care of your email address change. You're good to go now.. :-)
lol, okay, for sure you are the go to guy for all my activerain questions. Why is that some people's picture displays in comment boxes and others dont?
Xinh - your photo shows in comments when you upgrade to a rainmaker account, or you establish 10,000 points on AR. Looking forward to seeing your mug shot appear around the network soon. Let me know if you need any assistance. Thanks. :-)
Hi Brad, that makes a lot of sense. I thought I was just slow on my end not being able to figure it out on my own. Hmm...now I guess I just have to get lots of points (10,000?-holy!) or upgrade to a rainmaker account! Thanks again, "go to guy". Your assistance is much appreciated.
let's try this again =0P
hmmm...firstly, I want to apologize for testing out my issues on your site, but so far you are my only friend in this virtual world! So I just upgraded to rainmaker, and it still doesn't show...am I not doing it correctly?
Xinh - your rainmaker badge is on the right, and your photo looks great. Congrats on becoming a rainmaker.
Let me know if there is anything else you need getting all setup and comfortable here on AR. :-))
Brad, Thanks for your help thus far, I guess I was just a bit impatient. It didn't show right away, and today I checked back and it's all ready. Thanks so much!!
Okay, I have another dumb question for you... how do I reply onto my page to comments that were left on my blog? Sorry, Brad
Ok, you seem like the person to ask! I changed Brokers and I need my email to read nickilee@tds.net instead of the Century 21 address. It is grey and will not let me change on profile edit....HELP!
Xinh - The same way I am here. Just scroll to the bottom of your post and leave your comment in the available space. It's at the bottom of every blog post unless comments have been disabled. :-)
Nicki - that has been corrected for you. :-)
Hey Brad ,
I finally made it back on Active, I got frusterated by the fact that I could not post public blogs until I paid 29.00 bucks a month. As a realtor I seem to be paying a fee for everything. Is this now the only way to bost public blogs (to pay the fee) ? Thanks so much for your help AGAIN!
Hi April - By upgrading to a RainMaker membership, you will be able to post to public, get the SEO, get your own domain name and outside Blog, get your content potentially in front of nearly 2,000,000 visitors each month, and get all the tech support you need from me. I transaction from your efforts could pay for your upgraded membership for life. Just my 2 cents. Here to help if you need me. :-))
How do I change my category? I'm not doing va work anymore. I need to be listed as a coach. How can I get this done? Thanks.
DeAnna - I can change your category for you but I don't think we have coach listed. Let me know what you'd like it switched to and I'll take care of it. Thanks.
Okay well how about the real estate media section? I think that will work out just as well. Thanks.
That sounds great DeAnna - you're already under that category so no changes are needed. :-))
Thank you Brad! You have made this as simple and easy as possible to learn!
Eddie
Great tips Brad Jeremy just did a post with your links on how to do your profile............you site Sarah cooper as an example - ironically she doesn't have her profile page filled out.........but then again maybe that was the poin? :-)
Thanks Liz - I better go see what that Jeremy is up to! lol~ :-)))
Brad,
Thank you for a well written, easy to understand tutorial. The video was excellent too! I just have to learn to be patient with myself through the learning process....instead of speed reading & getting frustrated. Thanks again.
Okay Mr. Brad, you seem to be the "go-to" guy for active rain! Can you tell me why when I post a comment my picture does not show up with my comment like everyone elses? I did up load it to my profile. This newbee thanks you.
Hi Leah - you'll need to either upgrade to a rainmaker account on AR, or wait till you have aquired 10,000 points for your photo to appear. The benefits of a rainmaker account far exceed the benefit of having your photo appear in comments, take a look and see.
RainMaker Membership Benefits.
Thank you; very helpfull information.
Thanks very much for answering my question! I'll check out the link and go from there!
Bother: My sister "Rose says" Hi! Brad. Thank you so much.
Very simple guidelines for the setup!!!!
Thanks!
When I joined Active Rain, I was joining simply as a home stager. Since then, I have become a Realtor. Is there a way to belong to more than one category on this site?
Annie
Annie - you can only be listed under one category. If you need me to change it from stager to REALTOR, just let me know and I'll take care of that for you. :-)
Question for you, I have transitioned from a loan officer to an Insurance agent and would like to know how to change my title on my profile? I have looked every where and cannot seem to locate where/how to change it. Please advise.
Thank you for your help
Shane
Hi Shane - this is an admin feature, I'll go ahead and change it for you now. :-)
Thanks Brad yous the man!
Got it! Thanks!
i am having an issue uploading a pic into my profile. i have clicked on the edit profile button but under pic there is no upload photo button. If anyone can assist :)
Hi Monica - you may need to upgrade or update your Internet Browser, this is common when certain pages on ActiveRain aren't displaying properly. I also recommend firefox as your preferred browser for AR, it's much more user friendly and much more forgiving. :-)
I will contact you shortly to see if there is anything I can do to help. :-)
Boy, I guess I'll be busy for a while!
The upload photo link does not appear on my profile. Does anyone know how to upload your photo when the link doesn't appear?
Joseph - sounds like you may need to update your browser, some of the older versions don't work with some of this newer stuff. You could also try using the firefox browser, I know a good number of our members like it better than explorer. Let me know if that doesn't work, we'll figure out what it is. :-))
PS. Remember to be in the "edit" mode of your profile page, that's the only place the browse and upload buttons will appear.
How do I ADD MY PICTURE show it shows up when I reply to a blog?
I reply to a blog but no photo of me :(
Thank you
Don - you'll need to upgrade to a RainMaker account or wait till you aquire 10,000 points on AR. Call me if you have any questions. :-)
Thanks Brad!
Please advise how to change the profile photo. I have a button that says to submit an HD photo, which I do not have. It won't seem to take a regular photo.
Thank you.
Janine
Janine - it's not really HD, you just need a photo that is at least 600 x 600 or larger, then you can crop it down to the required 600x600 if need be. If the photo is too small, it won't upload. Try a bigger picture and I bet it will work for you. Also make sure you are running the most current browser, which ever one you are using. let me know... :-)
Great Info, thanks. After seeing examples of actual profile pages I went page and made significant changes to mine.
I re-visit this page often Brad. Great information and I share it with new agents in our office looking for guidance on how to setup their profiles.
Great starting information for new members like us. We appreciate the step-by-step instructions, and willingness to answer questions (we found info we were looking for in the comments of this blog!)
Jenn and Phil - Feel free to contact me anytime if you have any questions, I appreciate all your comments... feels like I'm chasing you around on my blog posts today. haha :-))
You certainly answered several of the questions that I had.
Thanks so much!
I am actually still confused as to why my picture doesn't show up within my posts.
Michelle - it may just be your browser, your picture is showing up just fine. Call me if you need some help. Thanks. :-)
Actually there it is now. Thanks for the follow-up email Brad.
I learn something from every single blog you write. Thank you.
Great pointers for a newbie. Your directions were easily understood.
Question: I have the top of my head chopped off. I see the display in the Preview Photo and it shows my whole head. In the original pic there is plenty of room for my entire head, but somehow here it wil chop off the top. Any suggestions?

Comrades:
How do I get my picture to post with my comment?I dont want to scare anyone, just join the group.
Thanks for the details on setting up my account. Made it very easy.
Ran Right - edit your profile and be sure to upload a photo. Once it's saved in your profile it should post with your comments automatically.
The input and directions are appreciated. Many thanks!
Hi! I am trying to upload my photo to Activerain, but the button to browse and find a photo is hidden by the Primary Market information. Any suggestions?
Thanks - Michele
Hi Michele - sounds like it might be an Internet browser issue, I'm having Kerrie follow up with you to see if we can't get this resolved for you right away. Thanks. :-)
As Debe wrote, thanks for the information about adding information to your last name - I was looking for that specifically!
Thank You Brad,
Now I can truly get started, let's make the rain fall!
I think I might be busy for awhile, with this!
Thanks - this was great!
Thanks for the help. I took my first webinar about setting up the profile today and am just getting started.
Okay, Brad, I have completed my profile, loaded up a pic and saved my profile. When I post comments to other blogs my photo DOES NOT appear like everyone else--WHY??? Did I miss something simple?
OK, I just found my own answer up above--it's about the point system I guess. Thanks!
Lisa - you shoul;d upgrade to a rainmaker account, then your photo will show along with even greater benefits of the membership. When you hit 10,000 points your photo will show up in comments but your blog posts won't show up in the search engines for consumers. If you have any questions about the rainmaker membership, feel free to contact me anytime at all. :-)
okay I have uploaded a photo and have a basic profile.
Clear and easy to understand.
I've been a member for awhile and I'm doing a refresher course! Thanks.
I have been trying to upload my photo and keep getting the following response:
Bad Gateway
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
Apache/2.2.3 (Red Hat) mod_ssl/2.2.3 OpenSSL/0.9.8e-fips-rhel5 Server at activerain.com Port 80
What am I doing wrong?Thanks!
Hi Mary - sounds like the photo may be too large and the AR network is timing out. If the photo is too large, Activerain waits a few seconds then gives you that response. Try resizing the image to be smaller, then try again. If you need help with it, just email the photo to me and I'll see what I can do to help you. Thanks. :-)
Thanks for the informative information. The tips are very good.

Brad, I too am having trouble uploading my photo into my new profile. This is the error message I receive:
1 error prohibited this agent from being saved
There were problems with the following fields:
Thank you in advance for any advice you can give me on this.
Michelle
Michelle - the image does have to be 600x600 pixels, anything smaller will get an error. Either resize your picture or find a larger one that you can crop once you upload it, this will solve the error problem. Let me know if that helps or not. :-)
Thank you Brad. Anthony contacted me and got me all hooked up! Appreciate it!
Awesome info, wish I had it when I first started but still great info to review. Looking forward to the rest of the blogs about how to update my profile.
First off, thanks to everyone for their valuable input and information. I just upgraded from a basic member to a paying one. I have a quick question on the blogs that I published as a non-paying member. Is there a "simple" way to edit them in bulk so that they'll be open to the public instead of just to members? If I have to edit them one at a time, I will, but.... :(
Thanks...
Scott
Scott says it all and I will e looking for a reply to his question as well!
Scott and Patrick - Unfortunately you must go in one by one and edit your posts. I'm sorry for the inconvenience but promise you will see great results! :) Let it Rain!
Well done.
It's probably very simple, but how come my profile picture doesn't show up when I post a comment?
Kelly - Once you become a RainMaker or cross the 10,000 point threshold your picture will appear when you comment. If you'd like more information, please email me at kerrie@activerain.com and I can explain more.
I really need this. I thank you for all and any instruction.

Extremely helpful!
Brad I've followed all of the instructions above but my profile picture is still not appearing when I comment on any blog posts. Only my name appears. Although my picture will appear when you visit my page. Is there anyway that I can change that?
Thank you.
WIN - Once you hit 10,000 points or become a RainMaker your picture will appear. If you'd like more information just let me know! Thanks!
I can't seem to great my widget link in my box. Is there another place I am to place it?
