In case you missed it earlier today, ActiveRain introduced the ability to now upload an HD profile picture in which you can crop & edit right on the network. If you missed the announcement, take a minute to read all about it on Brad's post: It's time to update your photo- In HD. To me, this is such a wonderful feature because for some reason, it seems the pictures of me where I am actually smiling and have my eyes open always have someone else in the photograph. (I should win an award for the worst person ever to be photographed.) Now, I can use some of those pictures & crop out the surrounding people without needing to use photo editing software.
The video below will show you just how easy it is to use this feature. I uploaded a new photo of myself, edited & saved it in less than 2 minutes. Remember though, when choosing your new profile photo, make sure it is at least 600 x 600 pixels wide or you will receive an error message. As always, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me for help!

Just saw Active Brad's post... went and did it...
Squeezy, Breezy, just as Easy.
Jeremy ~ That was cool & easy to do. I was just thinking about changing my photo the other day and here you have this new cool tool and you get extra points for this too. Thanks!
I wonder why its not showing up in my comment picture??? Any suggestions?
Oops, never mind I had to be patient, its showing now.
Glad you shared this tutorial on the cropping - you're always so helpful.
Jer...
I really love these video tutorials. You make it easy to incorporate these new features. BTW I almost missed you post because of the profile pic change ... I don't adapt too well!
June- It does appear like it takes a few minutes for the updating to process through to your comments. I didn't pay close attention to mine, but I would say it was updated within an hour or so.
Thanks Jeremy, the tutorial you made was clear and concise.

Jer, your so right even an old guy like me could do it.
Hi Jer: I will have to go and give it a whirl! Thanks.
:)
There were some great listings here. Well done.
That was easy - thanks for the heads up Jeremy!
Seems easy enough! Thanks Jeremy, I dig your blogs!
Cheers,
Jer - I did mine yesterday after the show. Thankfully, I had an HD version of the same picture I was already using, so I am still recognizable. :)
Very simple. So, how do I do this with my driver's license picture? I have few pictures of myself and that just happens to be the best one (by far)! I'm having a problem with scanning in the photo with the holographic coating on it...
Thanks - We tried it and now have a CURRENT photo! I cropped it out of one that I really liked! Easy as pie folks!
Hey Jeremy! I'm trying to upload it and keep getting an error message...the "pear-shaped one" which I love as error messages go...I've tried a 3000x3000 pic, a 2000x2000 pic and a 1000x1000 pic..I'm thinkin' this isn't my issue? True?
Thank you so much! that WAS easy!. Now ....here is another question for you. Why can't i get pictures in thru other areas. Such as my signature or posting a listing? is it something I need to change in my computer? Thanks in advance.
Hi Brad,
I do not have an option to add a photo to my profile. I am not an upgraded member - do I need to be in order to add a photo?
Thank you,
Yvonne
Hi brad,
I have the same problem of not being able to upload a picture. I am not an upgraded member.
Thank you,
Larry
Thanks Jeremy. The tutorial certainly helps. I'll go see what Brad has to say.
Hi Jeremy,
I wonder if you can help me. My profile picture does not appear when I comment on a blog. Do you have any idea why?
Thanks in advance!!!
Marianne
Hello,
Is there any way to update my photo with a non-HD photo? It won't seem to take a smaller photo anymore.
Thank you.
Janine
When I try to upload a new picture into my profile I keep getting "Bad Gateway", what does this mean?
Thanks, I needed the tutorial. You made it very simple and understandable.

Hi Jeremy,
I'm glad I found this post. I wasn't quite sure as to what to do.
Sorry. My comment sounds so silly. How do you know if the photo is HD format?
