It's Time To Update Your Photo - In HD

It's Time To Update Your Photo - In HD

Members now have the ability to upload large photos from digital cameras, crop and adjust endlessly, and save the resulting image as their profile photo. These new profile photos are of a much higher quality. So now you can update your photo on ActiveRain and also earn 1080 bonus points.

The new photo or image must be at least 600 x 600.  Our new photo upload feature allows you to use any hi-definition or large sized photo taken of you.  You know that picture of you in the crowd that you always wished you could use but there were other people in it, or it was just too big?  Now you can dig out that photo from the BBQ last weekend, crop yourself out, and upload it.  Don't just do it for the points! lol~

Now just because you look great in your College Cap and Gown, I would still suggest using a current photo, or at least one that is no more than 6 months old.  I can't tell you how many events I've been to lately where I would've known you had your photo here matched.  :-O  I have taken the plunge myself, and even though this is not my best photogenic side, it's current and will have to do til I find a better one.

There's no need for a tutorial on this new feature, it's pretty simple and straight forward.  Just be sure that your starting image is at least 600 x 600 or you will get an error telling you your photo is too small.  Just go to your "My Home" page and click on the "Edit" profile link to add your new HD photo.  I can't wait to see all the NEW and UPDATED faces around the community.  Let's "FACE" it, you know it's time to update YOUR photo, why not do it in HD (Hi-Resolution) and get 1080 bonus points too?

In case you do need a tutorial, here's a two minute video that will walk you through it!

I still look like I did 20 years ago ...thus the 20 year old picture. OK, I lie. Good idea to use the new technology!

WHAT? I thought it was Realtor protocol to only get one photo taken, the day you get your license.

Your new photo looks great! You're always keeping us on our toes, so I'm off to check it out.

Brad, I agree with Kim, ditto there. I agree with the photo update too.  It's ike online dating..okay yes, I tried about three years ago, it was short lived, at least I'm honest about, ugh...hated it, don't need it.  Anywho, nobody looks like thier photo, what's with that?

Posted by Debbie Aldrich Salt Lake City Realtor Salt Lake County, Cottonwood Heights (The Watts Group Real Estate ) 11 months ago

Brad got a little excited and brought this out early. The HD feature will not be available until 12pm Central Time......an hour from now. That means 10am Pacific Time and 1pm Eastern Time (You folks in Mountain will have to figure it out on your own.

So if you can't do it now, check back at the designated time and you will see the feature on your 'edit' profile page.

Really like the new photo capability.  It shows a lot more detail and color vibrancy.  I update my photos about every two years.  I want people to recognize me in person even if they've only seen my business card, marketing or from being on my website.

Posted by Liz Schomers (Century 21 Town & Country, Birmingham/Royal Oak, MI) 11 months ago

Ahhh... I thought I was going crazy when I cant do that. I guess I'll wait for 53 mins.

I'm not sure the extra clarity will be good in my case.....up with low def!!

Posted by Bobbi McKinnon, Realtor, Northern Nevada (Keller Williams Group One Realty) 11 months ago

Sorry for jumping the gun folks, guess I got a little too excited about releasing this new feature.  Look at it this way, it gives you some advance notice and time to go find that new photo you want to upload.  :-))

@Bob - even Kelan's photo on your profile is outdated and needs to be updated.. lol~

Ah, I was wondering why I couldn't do it . . . and here I was thinking I was tech savvy.  I'll wait, but don't look for too much of a change since these were the most recent photos I took.

Posted by Geri Sonkin (RE/MAX Hearthstone) 11 months ago

Thanks for the tip and points.  I know of one agent in town that has not changed their photo in 10 years.  Talk about shock!

Posted by Tim Krueger (Corona del Mar Properties) 11 months ago

Brad:  Like my current pic since I just had it taken.  May try uploading the larger size and see if it looks any different.

Posted by Chris Ann Cleland, GRI, SFR (Long & Foster, Gainesville, VA) 11 months ago

Is my page too old or something?  Because I don't have the option of changing my picture.  Even when I click Edit Profile all I can do is edit my text/information.  There's no way that I can see to upload a new photo.

Posted by Patti Walbridge (WalbridgEnterprises) 11 months ago

Hmm...this sounds like a great idea...oh, yes, I know just the picture to use...unless I have my wife take another picture of me and my son just for....

What? you thought that I was going to post a new profile pic without my little man in it??? No way, Jose! :-)

Just had batches of pictures taken of me since last weekend was my high school reunion. I also went immediately there and there was not a link to change photo

Waiting.......

This will be fun even tho my current pic is less than a year old. I wanna be like Brad and change my picture all the time just for fun.

I was reluctant to upload a more recent picture of me out of fear of my handsomeness overwhelming most of our members. So, after much deliberation and weighing the positives of an awesome new picture, and the negatives of the load the inevitable flood of groupie emails I would receive shortly thereafter... I upgraded my email servers and uploaded my 1080P profile picture. :) YIPPEEE. Jeez Louise, I am handsome.

I love this feature, and the user interface design is unprecedented.

It works Brad but after I compressed all my photos I had to look for one...it used to be impossible to load a photo when it wasn't compressed so now you have it.

John - Can you tell I'm right-handed?  haha~

Chris Ann - your current photo is great.  Try the larger one and see if it's clearer, but the one you have looks fine.

Janet - patience!  You must be in lending.  lol~  xoxoxo

Chris - the photo is clear and the colors are Vibrant.  That red really sticks out nicely.  Makes finding your comments easy. :-)

Heather - bring it on...   :-)))

Alan - WOW!  Now thats HD!  I can actually see the White's of your eyes. Coolio!!

Craig - you handsome devil you...   Yes, the interface rocks.  If we keep making this stuff this easy, I'll have to find something else to write about.  No more tutorials from ActiveBrad?  :-O   lol~

Brad,

Can't figure out how to "zoom" my photo out so it doesn't cut off the tie my wife gave me for Christmas.  I'd rather have people looking at my tie than my face.  How do I keep it from zooming in on me?  Thanks

Brad - This is cool... Is it ready yet?? Bob? I'll go and try it... Thanks for the tip guys..

Posted by Robert Hammerstein (Coldwell Banker Hillsdale NJ) 11 months ago

I just tried it twice.  The first time the file size was enormous (1780ish by 1800 something) and it looked distorted so I tried to download a similar shot that was about 640x604.  I still see the old one.  What am I doing wrong?

OK I just realized that I am always the one taking the photos and when I am being photographed, I act stupid.  Came down to two and I wish the lighting was better in this one but it is a good photo of me without a contorted face.

Posted by Jen Bowman - Decatur GA Real Estate Agent serving metro Atlanta (Keller Williams Realty Atlanta Partners) 11 months ago

Hey All - Looks like Jeremy did a video over here on his Blog if you need it.

Renee - are you kidding me?  I'm not even going there... haha!!  Your smile in your photo is great.  It can ONLY have gotten better. :-)

Kendall - love the tie, it wouldn't look the same with ya. haha.  Just drag the box with your mouse over the section you want to be cropped, then you can resize it accordingly by dragging the corners. It will have a 1:1 ratio so the image will be square.  You can't zoom in or out on the photos, or stretch or compress them.  If I could do that, I would have squeezed the side of mine in to make my fat face a bit skinnier.  ROFL~

Now after seeing everyone else's great photos, especially having my photo right under Mr "TAN" Neal Bloom's comment, looks like I better go find a different photo, I look really red compared to him!  hahaha

Bob - it's ready to roll in 1080(bp).  (bonus points..)

Posted by Brad Andersohn ~ Community Manager (ActiveRain) 11 months ago

This is actually really funny but if you go to the clark county, nv page ~ it looks like John Novak and I have an aversion to each other.  To fix this, just give me 15000 bonus points so it looks like he is whispering in my ear, LOL

I think I am smiling so big in that photo because I just won the annual siblings spoons tournament and beat the snot out of my siblings *drunkasaskunk*  My sister is half passed out at the other end of the table which the public cannot see!

QUICK ANNOUNCEMENT HERE

If your photo does not show up in comments immediately, please don't panic.  We are most likely experiencing a surge of members and a sheer community panic to go in and update those 10 year old photos, it must be causing a slowing in the system. lol!!

Help me out here.

Posted by Bill Blair Covington Georgia Realtor Covington Living Homes (RE/MAX Agents Realty) 11 months ago

Bill - your photo was too small, it has to be at least 600x600.  I went ahead and downloaded your photo, added some white space around it, and made the image larger so you could use it.  Should be working and showing up in a minute or so.  If you have the original larger image, you can use that as well.  :-)

OK. New photo, and we're all booger-free =P  No promises on how long I keep this one though. It's the only one that's not the same as all my other blogs, web sites, social networks, etc =/   And if I do keep it, I still need to add a soft border. This one looks to rigid for my tastes.

Hmmm. It also seems to have cropped differently when it's in the comment section. Gonna have to fix that.

Posted by Charles Perkins (Charles G. Perkins, CPA) 11 months ago

Hey Charles  - nice to see you added your new photo, hope it wasn't too difficult.

Just FYI to all: Some folks have an older Browser like IE 6 and can't get this to work.
The best solution always has been and always will be Mozilla Firefox as a browser.
If that's not an option (which I don't know why it wouldn't be) then update your IE.

This will make the photo upload process much easier and less frustrating.  :-)))

Posted by Brad Andersohn ~ Community Manager (ActiveRain) 11 months ago

I didn't seem to see any bonus points added to my account though? Does this take some time or did I do it wrong?

Updated: Okay, I see the points now.  Thanks for offering the incentive to get the pix updated with my new headshot.

Good Morning Blog-N-Roll :)

I wanted to let you know that many of The Members believe they can only have one Internet Browser.

I think you need to write a post about that and let them know they can keep their IE's for their MLS but load Firefox for when they're romping around in the Rain. Have I already mentioned that IE is the spawn of satan himself :)

Hope you had a relaxing weekend :)

Hi Margaret - when the HD photo upload got updated, it changed and created a glitch with the Localism profile photos.  The tech guys are aware of it and will try to get that fixed asap. Posted by David Peterson ~ Home Stager Portland OR ~ Synergy Staging ~ Portland Oregon (Synergy Staging ~ creating inspired spaces) 7 months ago

David - you may need to re-crop it until you get it exactly where you want it on both.  Sometimes it takes a little toying with it to get it just right.

Posted by Brad Andersohn ~ Community Manager (ActiveRain) 7 months ago

I don't like the fact that the photo I uploaded may be HD quality however when

you click directly on my profile picture, it directs you to a blank page with

just my photograph that is such a close up and way to BIG for the computer

screen! How do I adjust the size of this photo, to resize it to a reasonable image,

it is too big to look at and is unprofessional. Thanks for any advice on this.
